Me and my Leica :: Day Seven

Hey Gang,

Have I mentioned that Im loving this little camera? *lol*  Seriously though its so small I have it with me all the time and this has proven to be beneficial!  How many times are you out there and you say to your self "wish I had my camera" I dont say that anymore but I think Im starting to drive my family a little nuts.  I keep on hearing "dad do you have to bring out that thing" I tease them back and replay "thats no way to talk to your sibling" maybe I am going a little nuts! *wink*  On our way back home from seeing our Godson I saw this cool looking garage that, so I turned backed to see what my little Leica could do?  I gotta say that Im impressed with image quality, I cant wait to get my newLeica 28mm f/2 SUMMICRON-M ASPHERICAL.  I just hope it comes in time before Vegas! *wink*.  In this photo I was trying to capture the dark and moody feel but still maintaining the "rusticness" of the garage.

Me and my Leica :: Day Six

Hey Gang,

For the most part Ive been taking photos of people with my new leica but I thought I would try something different this time and see how this baby handles a little architecture?  As any Leica owner knows you by the camera for its superb quality and handcraftmanship, each camera and lens is hand made to meet stringent tolerances.  Leica lenses are the best in the world second to none but they come at a hefty price almost 5X the cost of your standard DSLR lens. Ive been mainly using the Zeiess Biogon 25mm F2.8 lens, damn this puppy is sharp it even rivals some of Leicas offerings at a fraction of the cost.  On the my Leica M8 this lens acts almost like at standard 35mm lens on a full frame camera.  This a perfect general purpose lens maybe not ideal for super-low light situations but great for outdoors! I picked mine up from Rob Skeoch of Big Camera Workshops awesome guy to deal with and super knowledgeable!  This was supposed to be a simple post about some architectural shots but I turned it into a half a$$ review! *LOL*  Here are a couple of photos I took while I was in downtown Cambridge, Ontario.

Me and my Leica :: Day Five

Hey Gang,

Happy post family day! This past weekend we went dress shopping for Kennedy's first communion at Zero 20 Bambini, of course I brought my leica with me and Im sure glad I did!  I was able to capture some shots that only ever happen once, I know I might be driving my kids a little crazy but I hope they'll look back at these photos one day and remember each moment.

Here's Mom trying to find the perfect dress and Gabe as enthusiastic a 12 year old boy can be dress shopping!

No I did not tear up as most of you probably think I did but it was a little surreal to see here in this dress.

This one is probably my favorite.  Gabe in his own world surrounded by all these dress! *lol*

Me and my Leica :: Day Four

Hey Gang,

I have received a ton of emails in regards to the Haiti Raffle and I've decided to extend the dead-line to February 26th.  So feel free to tell all your family and friends about this great cause!

This past weekend I was just lying around with my family in the tv room, holding my Leica of course! *LOL*.  When I looked over I saw the most funniest thing!  Let me explain first of all we truly are a loving family so no needs to call Childrens aid! *wink*.  But here was Lez on the computer with her back towards the kids, there's Gabe with his back towards Kennedy watching tv and Kennedy in concentrating on the tv as well.  The funny thing was the family photos behind them on the wall depicting how close we truly are as a family.  I just thought it was hilarious!

Me and my Leica :: Day Three

Hey Gang,

Just having more fun with the new addition to our camera family!  So Ive been getting a ton of emails wondering whats so special about the leica?  Is it easier to use? does it take better photos? is it for everyone?  Well let me answer NO, NO and YESSSSS.  Its not your standard point in shoot camera nor your advance auto everything SLR.  Its a camera that really makes you slow down and think about the shot which is great for a happy-finger-trigger-shooter like myself! *LOL*.  The thing I love MOST about the camera is that I have it with me all the time.  Here are some shots from this past weekend while Lez was away with the girls Purse shopping.  I have to say that I have quite the collection of "man-purses" (camera bags) myself so I can definitely appreciate it! *wink*

We met up with my brother and his family for lunch and I caught Melissa and Kennedy rocking out.  Melissa was so impressed that Kennedy knew all the lyrics to "Will you be my girl" *lol*

Even though Ive been on a diet...oops I mean life-style change *wink* you have to treat yourself every once in a while! So I took the kids to a new pastry place that I was dying to check out Nova Era located on King Street in Kitchener near the Farmers Market.  SOOOOO GOOOD!!

And just like usual Kennedy gets knocked out with a full stomach just like her dad! *wink*
